Remembering David Oliver

Thrilled that my post about the_aids_memorial Instagram page has gotten so much traction -- the virtual AIDS Quilt is a must-see. Noticed a write-up today about David Oliver, whom I fell in love with when I finally watched "A Year in the Life," a miniseries (turned short-lived series) in which he played Sarah Jessica Parker's hubby.

Wow, I don't even know that I realized he died. He was so cute and I remember him from that show. So much loss.

I had the biggest crush on him from his days on A Year In The Life on NBC. Entertainment Weekly used to publish a big edition with people who had died from AIDS in the entertainment industry. And I remember how sad I was to see his face/name on those pages.

I am with you on this one. This was the actor that put rest to the idea that I was anything but gay. He was so handsome in the role of Sam. YitL was one of the best series ever, we talked about it the next morning at work. I was so sorry when it was cancelled.

Its great that everyone remembers him. For every handsome gay man that died, there are 500 that maybe weren't so handsome, or were plain, or maybe were just hairy and funny. I know its easy to feel such remorse for the handsome, "oh SUCH a waste" we think...as if in their life they would have had sex with YOU. haha no. You would not have fit the bill. Let my certainty be your guide in life. No one dead wants your pity.
