Don’t Cry for Me, Argentina (I’ll Be Back!)

Heading home on the red-eye tonight. No tears necessary, though. I’ll be back. 🇦🇷❤️☘️

Song of the Day: 'Liberator' by O.M.D.

This one's a previously unreleased track that's included on Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark's40th anniversary box set and singles collection, "Souvenir." Indeed it was intended as the title track to the 1993 album of the same name but never made it onto the album. The title inspiration comes from Andy McCluskey's love of WWII aeroplanes. The guys say there were several demo versions recorded, but the one released is the nearest the song got to the intended sound.

Went to a Jardin Fiesta

Today was our last full day in Argentina, so we made sure to spend some time in Jardin Botanico Carlos Thays, one of the most beautiful spots in Buenos Aires. Being here has colored my outlook on some things, having been thoroughly charmed by the land of Italians who speak Spanish and think they’re British. For all its upheaval and instability, it’s stunning how much easier so many things are here versus the U.S. I already look forward to coming back. xo

Song of the Day: 'Wicked Game' by Lana Del Ray and Chris Isaak

I'd heard about this pairing and was curious how it came about.

And while I didn't exactly figure it out, I'm guessing it has something to do with the fact that she had previously covered the California crooner’s biggest hit  (news to me). I also couldn't figure out exactly when or why.

Enjoy!

The Native Daughter Returns!

Such an honor to accompany the matriarch of the Veron family on a journey back to her roots in Misiones province, a place she hadn’t been in 70 years. Elsa is an incredibly warm and loving woman who raised five terrific children, one of whom I am lucky to call my guy. 🇦🇷 ❤️☘️

If It’s Tuesday, This Must Be Paraguay

Sweet day retracing Damian’s mom’s childhood in Posadas, Argentina, just across the water from Encarnacion, Paraguay.
