Quote of the Day

"The only question is whether he is a bullshitter or simply a liar. Probably, he is both." -- "On Bullshit" author Daniel Libit on Mitt Romney. (Via Romenesko)

Trick or Treat?

Totally forgot it was Halloween today --- I think most events have been canceled in the areas affected by Hurricane Sandy -- but here's a trick that would be quite the treat! For those around the country, hope you have a safe and fun night. Here's hoping the power comes back on soon here -- I'm afraid of the dark.

Go 'Deep Inside' Scooter LaForge!

I would have blogged this properly if not for that bitch Sandy, but wanted to say congrats to my friend Scooter LaForge, whose solo show at Munch Gallery is the fall's must-see art event! (Through Dec. 2, details HERE.) Michael, Bernard and I attended the opening gala on Friday -- and so did Mike Diamond, who has the full scoop on the artist here:

and the full report from the opening here:

Song of the Day: 'After the Flood' by Lone Jusitce

For some reason, this classic from Maria McKee and the boys' debut album has been going through my head all day ...

Page 1 Consider (10/31)

I'm back at work today -- had my first shower and exposure to heat in days at a friend's house this morning -- and just now learning of the true reach of Hurricane Sandy's destruction. With no TV and dead smartphones, Michael and I have been living in a tiny bubble, where keeping warm, helping Michael's back get better and finding food consumer our every thought. But as un-fun as it's been, it's pretty sobering when you read what all has happened to so many others.

Lights Out

If you're wondering why I don't have electricity, this video explains it for you nicely!

Face/Off

Funny, 'cause I've been able to keep mine up for more than 40 years ...

Survivor: Lower Manhattan

Thanks for all of the messages checking in on me, Michael, Larry and even Bernard. We survived Sandy all right -- barely even heard her, to be honest -- but the power got knocked out for most of Manhattan below Midtown, so the real game of survival only begins now. Our phones are dying, our food supply is low and -- worst of all -- Michael threw his back out this morning and cannot move, so crashing at a generous friend's is now looking unlikely, leaving us in an increasingly bleak situation. Everything is closed near us because of the power outage, but I am heading Uptown to recharge phones at my office. There should be food nearby -- so the biggest challenge now seems to be not killing one another under the stress of it all (they say we could have no power for FOUR or FIVE days). Luckily Michael's back leaves him pretty helpless, so I've definitely got the upper hand ...

Who'd You Rather (Now): Jack Scalia or Chris Noth?

Society is awfully judgmental of women as they grow older -- especially women in Hollywood. Here are current photos of Jack Scalia and Chris Noth, two men I found ridiculously sexy in their heyday. (Jack Scalia in that Amy Fisher movie and Chris Noth as a hooker in "Smithereens"!!) How do you think they're looking at 61 and 57, respectively?

Curtains for 'Anderson'

Media Decoder reports that Anderson Cooper's revamped daytime talk show will not be renewed for a third season. Read HERE.

Total Recall

The total gave me pause, on top of the fact that Hurricane Sandy is shaping up to be a giant excuse for city dwellers to stock up on junk food.

Sign Language

With thanks to Chip, who notes the "sign" is "brimming" with "sarcasm" and "irony."

Song of the Day: 'Lights' by Blondie

Debbie Harry sounded a bit karaoke-ish covering Ellie Goulding's "Lights" during Blondie's YouTube Presents concert, but it's fun to hear nonetheless.

Ryan's Reality Check

Ryan O'Neal's horrendous reality show with daughter Tatum may have bombed on Oprah Winfrey's fledgling cable network, but that's now the least of his troubles. The onetime "Love Story" hunk has been ordered to stand trial over a a disputed Andy Warhol silkscreen of Charlie's late Angel, valued at $30 million. The University of Texas, where Farrah attended school before being swept away to Hollywood, claims that the painting belongs to them as part of the artwork Fawcett bequeathed to them. How did the school discover it was "missing"? It was hanging over O'Neal's bed in his Malibu home, featured on the dud TV show. Read HERE.

Thriller

Saw this on my friend Jon's Facebook page -- not only did my brothers and I have this album, we have alluded to it nonstop ever since!!!!!

Fifth Avenue Heartache

No way to even look for that Ann Marie mannequin in the window at Bergdorf Goodman now that the luxury department store is on lockdown in anticipation of Hurricane Sandy --

It's a Boy!

Just received my box of goodies from author Robert Rodi, whose new novel, "Baby," I supported via Kickstarter. (Signed copies of his classic "Fag Hag" and "The Sugarman Bootlets" accompanied the new arrival.) Although I haven't had a chance to start "Baby" -- about a gay man who moves in with his sister after his business fails, then begins to realize the true horror of his life after she gives birth to "a screaming lump of raw greed" -- it sounds perfect for the season. But it's Larry who seems happiest about my small investment in Mr. Rodi's writing endeavors ...

Ranking Roger

You could sure do a lot worse than a Roger Federer-Juan Martin del Potro final in Switzerland and a Serena Williams-Maria Sharapova final in Istanbul. Who do we like?

Judah Friedlander and Debbie Harry

Debbie Harry looked a fraction of her 67 years at last night's premiere of "This Must Be the Place," at the Cinema Society, where she told Vulture that how stupid the American public has become has her seriously concerned. Read HERE.

For my Arizona friends, doesn't she remind you a little bit of Bette David?
