Song of the Day: 'Forever My Love' by Carly Simon

It's commonly accepted that Carly Simon had found a peaceful, happy place when she made 1974's platinum-selling "Hotcakes." That she'd evolved from her jet-setting lifestyle into one marked by domestic bliss thanks to her recent marriage to James Taylor and decision to have children and settle down. But as her "Boys in the Trees" memoir reveals, James was a distant husband from the get-go, wrapped up in his heroin addiction and womanizing ways. "Forever My Love" would prove to be a foreboding title, however, as Carly still pines for her true love to this day, as painfully outlined in her recent memoir about her friendship with Jackie O.

Losing Face

The Senate majority is beyond hope, but bravo to the House Democrats for doing what they are required to do.

Split Decision Down Under

While I'm happy that pretty boy Tommy Paul upset (pretty man) Grigor Dimitrov at the Australian Open -- we rarely get to see those sweet lips and ass on the big stage -- I almost can't appreciate it since Tennys Sandgren upset Matteo Berrettini. Not only do I hate to see the racist American win, I was REALLY looking forward to seeing more of the Italian Stallion walking around the court in this get-up. The life of a tennis fan!

Watch Tommy boy's press conference HERE.

Song of the Day: 'Come and Get Your Love' by Real McCoy

Because I've already used the original Redbone version of this classic '70s confection for my Song of the Day, I'm using a 1990s cover I didn't even know about until yesterday. Reason being: The Wall Street Journal profiled "Come and Get Your Love" in its Anatomy of a Song feature this week -- and I'm curious if anyone else was as surprised as I was that Lolly Vegas got a sole writing credit given how much heavy lifting brother Pat did. Read HERE.

You may recall Cyndi Lauper borrowed from it for her "Hey Now (Girls Just Want to  Have Fun)" revamp.

Song of the Day: 'Vacation' (live) by Jane Wiedlin

This is kind of a quirky one. Jane Wiedlin performed a handful of Go-Go's songs at the opening of an art show by Beatriz Monteavaro at the Bob Rauschenberg Gallery at Florida Southwestern State College. Why'd she do it? Turns out Beatriz's artwork is inspired by the Go-Go's -- the exhibit is called Vacation -- and that's her playing drums! Details HERE.

A lot of negative comments online about this performance, butI liked some of Jane's phrasing on "Vacation"!

Weekend Tennis Roundup

Benoit Paire showed his mature side after suffering a heartbreaking loss in the final of Auckland, heaping praise on rising French star Ugo Humbert, who edged the 30-year-old fellow Frenchman 7-6 (2) 3-6 7-6 (5) to lift his maiden ATP title at the age of 21.

Benoit took a Jacuzzi in his turquoise BJORN BORG BOXERBIREFS to recover.

Andrey Rublev became the first man in 16 years to win back-to-back titles in the opening two weeks of the season on Saturday, beating Lloyd Harris 6-3, 6-0 to capture the Adelaide International title.

World Number One Ash Barty won the Adelaide women's crown, beating Dayana Yastremska of Ukraine 6-2, 7-5 to claim her eighth career title but first on home soil. Barty enters Melbourne as a favorite, looking to end a 42-year drought since an Aussie captured the crown. (Chris O’Neil defeated American Betsy Nagelsen in 1978 to become the first unseeded woman to win a major.)

And rising Kazakh star Elena Rybakina overcame a gulf in experience to beat China's Zhang Shuai 7-6(7) 6-3 in the Hobart International final on Saturday and claim her second WTA title.

Borna Coric's new deal with Asics struck me as a real come down from Nike ...
