Rearview Mirror 2025

Another year has flown by -- I barely got my spring vacation photos uploaded before Thanksgiving rolled around -- but I want to take a moment to thank all of you who have continued to stop by the (212). Blogs like mine are definitely being replaced by Substacks and social media in general, so I appreciate that my 20th year(!) still saw substantial traffic. Although blogging is still my main online outlet, I am active (for my age) on other platforms. Above are my Top Nine posts from Instagram, where you can find me HERE. I'm also on Threads, Facebook and Bluesky if any of those are more your speed. xo

Music to My Ears

I can't imagine this would be of much interest to anyone but me. But since everyone's flooding social media with their yearend music wrap-ups, here's a look at what's been in heavy rotation this year at Casa Walsh. Of note: I saw three of them live in 2025 and have tickets to see a fourth in the months ahead!

Donny and Marie would be proud!

Tennis Tuesday: Lorenzo Musetti

Where do you even start with this one? Get the full picture BELOW.

Remains of the Day (12/01)

I ❤️ the UWS: Not terribly surprised to hear that my local Irish pub, the Emerald Inn, is closing up shop after 82 years. The bathroom is in the center of the joint and every time I've attempted to go there it reeked to high heaven.

Weekend Tennis Roundup

Another journeyman comes out of the closet; babies for Musetti and Van Uytvanck/Vermeiren; Matteo on top; plus all the ATP beef that's fit to post BELOW.

World AIDS Day

I spent the past week with my niece and nephew and couldn't help but think of the hundreds and hundreds of posts I see on the AIDS Memorial written by young men and women who never even got to meet their gay uncles because of the HIV pandemic of my youth. I can't even put into words how fortunate I feel to have survived its darkest days -- and how happy I am to be a generation into HIV's being both a preventable and treatable disease. But never will I forget how much pain and loss there was, and how I wish my friends -- Walter, Mike and Mark, in particular -- had also lived to see this day.
