If you haven't seen "Miss Guided," I can only describe it as what "Strangers With Candy" would have been like if Valerie Cherish had gone back to her old high school as a teacher instead of Jerri Blank as a student. (If that doesn't make you wanna watch it, you're as lame as the execs at ABC.) Judy Greer is simply brilliant as hapless guidance counselor Becky Freeley, who returns to the scene of her teenage trauma to right the wrongs of her youth. Brooke Burns is delish as her onetime nemesis, the eternally popular Lisa Germain (only Lisa probably didn't know Becky existed and couldn't care less). Like Becky, Lisa has also returned to Glen Ellen High School, but as a teacher. Earl Billings has a certain Principal Blackman quality as Phil Huffy -- and Chris Parnell is well-suited as the power-hungry vice principal, Bruce Terry. As an added bonus, Kristoffer Polaha is beyond dreamy as former auto shop teacher turned (underqualified) Spanish instructor, Tim O'Malley -- the clueless object of Becky's affection. (Naturally, the former cheerleader and most popular girls ever Lisa Germain has to have his attention too.)
I really hope ABC is still considering keeping this one around. It really should have been a cable show to begin with, but I thought their new-found success might have given them the balls to try to air something good for a change (I guess adding another night of "Dancing With the Stars" is easier than producing something witty and intelligent.)
In the meantime, you can watch full episodes online here. And join me in nightly prayers for the return of the best half-hour comedy in years, a show that fans of "The Office" would undoubtedly appreciate -- if given half a chance.

Call me shallow, but from the look of it, I won't be surprised if it gets cancelled....
I second your thoughts.
By the end, I was loving it all, which is of course when it's already all over. Annoying.
Usually ABC does the right thing (as of lates) so I'm hoping. At least they seem to know what they have a bit more than some of the other networks.
Because I need Kristoffer Polaha on my TV screen some more.
Hi Kenneth - long-time reader, first time commenter. Love this show and had actually been thinking of emailing you to see if it was on your radar. While I find it hysterical, I think it's had a troubled past with lots of writers and show runners. So its cancellation could be a management issue. What caught my attention though was the opening credits!!! If you have Tivo or a DVR, you MUST pause during the super-fast title sequence. Not only do you get to see Kris' high school photo on the right, but check out the pix on the left. Who is that playing football? In must be some sort of Ashton inside joke, don't you think?
You killed it, Kenneth. You should have been blogging about it a lot sooner, to give it the kind of hip publicity it deserved.
I'm actually going to watch this now. I had heard about it, but didn't realize it had such a great premise. You had me at "painful second adolescense."
Your (Kenneth) opinion of the show is exactly the same as mine. I love it (and it's almost as hilarious as SWC was)! Hope they give it a chance...
I felt the exact same way. I love it, so it will be canceled. It's a great little show that deserves a chance.
And yet shows like CARPOOLERS and CAVEMEN somehow make it to the schedule.
I love this show and feel the same way.....you start liking a show, one of the few that has any quality, and they yank it out from under you! Why even start watching it until it is establiished? A big loss definitely!
The Long Island Guidance Counselors Crew would like to tell Ashton and the producers of Miss Guided that we are big fans and look forward to watching many more episodes. Tonight we are having a miss guided pizza and beer party to honor your show and guidance counselors across the world.....Keep it coming! If you need any extras were available!
I LOVE this show! I tried watching it tonight online and there arent any more episodes! WTF ABC?
