Hypocrite DA Is Out

Harris County District Attorney Chuck Rosenthal, who defended the Texas law criminalizing homosexuality before the U.S. Supreme Court, resigned Friday after a scandal involving (adulterous) romantic and racist e-mails found on his county computer, KPRC Local 2 reported. Naturally, Rosenthal cited a number of other reasons, including medical. (Story)

In his arguments before the high court the married Rosenthal condemned adultery and homosexual acts: "I think that this Court having determined that there are certain kinds of conduct that it will accept and certain kinds of conduct it will not accept may draw the line at the bedroom door of the heterosexual married couple because of the interest that this Court has that this Nation has and certainly that the State of Texas has for the preservation of marriage, families and the procreation of children," he told the justices.

Now that he's resigning, I hope he, his wife and his wouldbe mistress enjoy spending some quality "family" time together.

I would like to know about all of the backroom talks that were going on. He was a sinking ship and the Republican Party was probably putting a ton of pressure on him to just leave. His protege Kelly Siegler, who wants the nomination but has a bit of her own recent scandal, has publicly distanced herself from him. It can only get more interesting.
