De Nile Is Not Just a River in Egypt

After two years on the wagon staying away from watching "Entertainment Tonight," a story slash makeover episode about Tonya Harding caused me to relapse the other night, and my addiction is back with a vengeance. I'd stopped watching celebrity magazine shows because all they talked about were people who I didn't even know who they were (are adults really supposed to be familiar with Lindsay Lohan and that Hilary Duff?).

So tonight Mary Hart had an interview with Dionne Warwick, who despite her wacky Psychic Friends era did make some brilliant records 40 years ago with the legendary Burt Bacharach.

Naturally, the conversation turned to her cousin Whitney Houston (I thought she was her niece, but anyway). Dionne was first asked about her own run-in with the law a few years ago when marijuana was found her bag at an airport. Her response? "I don't know what happened; somebody dropped it in my bag." (What's that apple living in the same subdivision as the tree saying again?)

After making this embarrassing denial, she went on to say of Whitney that "anyone can rebound. As long as they have the desire to, and as long as they have the encouragement to. So I think that what we have to do is start encouraging her to look at who she is; don't forget who you are."

So does this mean that Cissy and the gang are going to start sitting Whitney down on a regular basis and say, "Whitney, darling. Look at who you really are. Don't forget who you are. You're a crackhead." (I'm sure that'll help.)

I was just saying the other day how scary it was that the once young and beautiful Whitney Houston has literally turned into the 65-year-old version of Dionne Warwick right before our very eyes. The photos above beautifully illustrate this. If "Being Bobby Brown" weren't the greatest show of all time this would be so sad.
