WTF?

I about choked on my late-night snack when I read this in Rolling Stone last night in bed! I think we've all bought a "hits" or "essential" compilation and ended up saying the same thing.

Here are a few in my collection that still have me shaking my head, "why?" And the music industry wonders why people aren't buying CDs anymore ...

  • The Very Best of Daryl Hall & John Oates: It looks like these boys are repeat offenders. This collection is absolutely wonderful -- and even includes the disputed "Out of Touch." Missing track: "She's Gone" -- which happens to be better than everything they did in their golden years ...

  • The Best of Belinda Carlisle Vol. 1: Great collection, but no "Mad About You"?

  • Magic: The Very Best of Olivia Newton-John: A remarkably comprehensive collection that spans the early "country" period through her post-"Grease" glamour years, yet doesn't have her first hit, the brilliant Bob Dylan cover "If Not For You," and then leaves "Livin' in Desperate Times" off for good measure.

  • Kim Carnes: Crazy in the Night: Another comprehensive collection that includes Kim's early smash "More Love" and even the title track of her multi-platinum breakthrough 1981 album, "Mistaken Identity." Missing track: "Bette Davis Eyes"!!!

It's too painful for me to even get into that "best of" KajaGooGoo album I bought that doesn't have "Too Shy" on it ...

The reason your "Best of Belinda Carlisle" cd has no "Mad About You"is because you own the UK version. Her first solo cd was never released abroad--she only became famous in the UK with "Heaven Is A Place on Earth."

The American greatest hits has a different track list (with Mad About You of course), and doesn't include a number of her songs that were hits abroad but not in the US that are included on yours.
