Tina Turner Says Goodbye at 83

I know we're all heartbroken to hear that Tina Turner has left us at 83 -- she was simply the best, thrilling us with riveting music and live performances for six decades -- but I am happy that she is no longer in pain, following years of cancer treatment and dialysis.

A spokesman confirmed the legendary singer’s death.

“She enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow,” her representatives wrote on her Instagram page Wednesday. “Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music.”

It's hard to think of a woman whose life's up and downs were more public than hers, yet somehow she managed to keep a private persona -- letting her spectacular talent do the talking.

My guy knew just how to console me, immediately putting on “Better Be Good to Me,” an all-time favorite of mine.

Rest in peace, Tina. You are most loved.

Everyone: Hug your diva a little tighter tonight.🙏

I met her once. Many decades ago, a friend worked at British Motor Cars in San Francisco. Ike and Tina were playing at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds and Ike requested that my friend drive a couple of Rolls Royces to the fairgrounds for him to see. My friend solicited me to drive one of them and he drove he other. This was in very bad days of their relationship and stayed very quiet and in the background. Ike ended up buying one and had the vanity plate Bullock (her last name) on the car. Saw it several years later parked on the street in front of a bunch of stores in Beverly Hills. Fond memory.
