Back to This?

I just popped by my friend Greg’s apartment to check in on Josie this rainy Friday night and came across this atrocity coming soon to the famed Winter Garden Theatre.

Wikipedia says “Back to the Future: The Musical” is a 2020 stage production with music and lyrics by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard and a book by Bob Gale. It is adapted from the original screenplay of the 1985 film of the same name by Robert Zemeckis and Gale. The show features original music, as well as songs originally featured in the film, such as "The Power of Love" and "Johnny B. Goode."

I know rehashing old movies has become de rigueur on Broadway — just as comic books are now the only source material for films. But this one seems particularly sad to me, perhaps because it is THE blockbuster of my teenage years.

Next you’re going to tell me Eric Stoltz — the original Marty McFly — is starring as Doc. 😩

She couldn’t believe it, either!

Now this I approve of. 🙏
