I Could 'Barely' Contain Myself!

Had never heard of "Barely Famous" until I read tennis hunk and KIT212 fave Tommy Haas was married to Sara Foster, who stars alongside sister Erin Foster in what turns out to be a mock reality show on VH1. While I don't want to spoil too much, the sisters are sort of barely famous in real life -- Sara was a model and appeared on the "90210" reboot and Erin was on "The O.C. " and other TV shows, plus their dad is big-shot music producer David Foster, who has been married to several reality stars himself (Brody Jenner's mom, Yolanda on "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills") -- so they are able to use their real lives and real connections (Kate Hudson's cameo led to one of the show's best lines) to create a brilliant send-up of Hollywood and the reality show about a nobody-who-has-a-reality-show genre to which we've grown all too accustomed. (Anyone remember "The Gastineau Girls"?) Their real-life sister chemistry is also priceless.

What's most surprising about "Barely Famous," though, is that the writing is so sharp -- the sisters created the show themselves, and I noticed Erin has previous writing credits -- like the product of a painfully awkward one-night stand between "The Comeback" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm," both of which the women cite as inspiration. The first season -- six short episodes -- is available on VH1's website, and it's been renewed for a second. At the risk of setting you up for disappointment, "Barely Famous" is unofficially my new favorite show, as it's consistently smart and funny in a way that even the great "Inside Amy Schumer" and "Broad City" are not.

Yeah, I've actually watched them in Grace Hellbig's TV show after they got the 2nd season renewed. :) Never gave their show a chance, tho!
