Book of 'Staches

I had a little incident last night while trying to trim my beard, which accidentally led to my now having a mustache with 5 o'clock shadow look favored by many men in the Middle East, so I figured it was a good time to mention the new book "One Thousand Mustaches: A Cultural History of the Mo," Allan Peterkin's love letter to the many 'staches and the men who sport them.

From a release:
Contemplating a handlebar or considering a Fu Manchu? Find your ideal ’stache, trace its history, and more in One Thousand Mustaches: a book for those with mo’s, and those who love ‘em. After decades of being much maligned in Western culture, the mustache is now enjoying a cultural renaissance. This resurgence is largely thanks to Movember, the international campaign during which men grow facial hair during the month of November to raise funds for prostate cancer research (in 2011, 1.8 million men in fourteen countries participated). Hipster, retro, and modern mo’s sported by the likes of Ryan Gosling, Ashton Kutcher, and James Franco have also helped to bring the ’stache back on lips and out in the limelight. Shaving companies now offer new-fangled mustache groomers, and hundreds of mo aficionados from around the world flock to the annual World Beard and Mustache Championships. "One Thousand Mustaches" is both a lighthearted cultural history and an earnest style manual: it’s the story of the ’stache through the ages, following its various incarnations in politics, war, movies, music, sports, art, and fashion. The book includes numerous photos and drawings throughout. It also boasts a wealth of practical information on various ’stache styles and how to grow and wear them with pride.

Sounds like the perfect Christmas present for someone ...
