Your Mission? End Homophobia in the Mormon Church

A recovering Mormon friend of mine alerted me to this casting call (below) from the Church of Latter Days Saints (there's an actual LDS Church Media Services Department Casting Office!) for a show they're cooking up about marriage values. It says they are looking for young married couples, between about 20-35 years old. Applicants may reside anywhere, although the project will be produced in Utah. My friend and I thought it would be great if some same-sex couples applied for this "documentary-style production involving young married couples sharing their experiences about love, marriage, values, home and family life." The call says applicants "should feel comfortable in front of a camera. No acting experience is required, but it is a plus if you have it." (And really, don't all Mormons?)

To apply online, go HERE. (Hurry, casting ends Jan. 8.) While it says you must be Temple-worthy members in good standing, we all know how the Joseph Smith and the gang felt about blacks until recently, so we were thinking it would be worthwhile to see if they're ready to change their minds about LGBT Mormons, too. Why not send them an e-mail at AVDcasting@LDSchurch.org with "Marriage" in the subject line to find out -- and keep me posted!

And even if you're not a Mormon, this listing is bound to make you cry laugh. "ALL ethnicities are welcome!" Way to go!

I've used that picture on my blog a couple of times, and gotten tons of hate mail over it. Get ready!
