With thanks to my pal Nicky: Carol Morley's new film, "Dreams of a Life," chronicles the life and mysterious death of Joyce Vincent, a beautiful 38-year-old singer who remained dead in her apartment slumped on the sofa in front of the television for three years -- surrounded by Christmas presents she had been wrapping -- before anyone noticed she'd gone missing. How is this even possible? The trailer promises one of the saddest stories of all time.

I'd hope my husband would notice. He might overlook me for a day or two, I suppose. But when the catbox started to overflow, he'd figure something was up.
