Yikes. Happy to read I'm not the only one who thought Kathy Griffin's latest Bravo standup special was incredibly weak. Being the comedy "It Girl" has a limited shelf life, so I suppose she thinks she needs to keep getting out there while the gettin's good. (Plus she's a money-grubbing whore, no offense intended.) But what she clearly needs to do is take a year off and let us miss her a bit. As it stands now, she bored us with tired observations about Demi and Ashton, the Kardashians and Lindsay Lohan that weren't even as funny as your witty gay coworker. As a friend of a friend said, either she has no more interactions with celebs, or any backstage inside scoop, or she is just unwilling to talk about it now that she is not really D-list. Whatever the case may be, it struck me as a major turning point in her career.

TOTALLY agree. It's the curse of success. Kathy got a lot of $$ and celeb friends and industry acceptance, and that has corrupted her funny essence. The outrageous eye-rolling schtick has to be counterbalanced with some basic authenticity and funniness. Otherwise it's just idiotic. I haven't laughed at her in at least a year. Kathy just needs to take a break and become a human being again.
She's been stale for a while, and I WANT her to be as funny as she was.
I haven't seen this special, but not searching it out either. I'd bet a week's salary she does a imitation of her mother swearing, that goes on toooooooo tooooooo long and should have been axed from the show 3 years ago, but she keeps running it into the fucking ground.
