Labor of Love or 140 Characters and Counting

Michael and I got home from seeing hunky Feliciano Lopez get creamed by Andy Murray at the U.S. Open and remembered that tonight is my blog's six-year anniversary! It all began in 2005 after seeing an epic match between Robby Ginepri and Tommy Haas -- two of my favorite players. Just like tonight, I got home late that night and found myself so excited by what I had just witnessed that I was repeatedly rewriting the same e-mail to all of my tennis friends and family members -- then thought to myself how much easier it would be to put it all together in one place for everyone to visit. Not entirely sure why a group email didn't come to mind -- but 11,375 posts and nearly 9.5 million hits later, I'm awfully glad it didn't. Although the advent of Facebook and Twitter have me thinking I probably never would have started my blog if they had been around that Labor Day weekend in 2005 -- I could have posted a photo with a status update about my evening at the Open on Facebook and waited for my friends to respond -- the freedom to explore my life and things that are important to me at length has been an enormous gift, and certainly not something that could have been accomplished in 140 characters of less. Thanks for coming along for the ride -- it definitely wouldn't have been as much fun without all the new people I've met along the way by having my life completely out in the open on the pre-social-media World Wide Web. Now who's up for six more years?

Consider it done

Awesome. I can't even remember how I discovered your blog but it's one of my first bookmarks every time I get a new computer.

Sorry I missed you tonight. I was stuck on LA & GS. Glad you guys had fun and got good seats!

CONGRATS on six amazing years!

Congrats Kenneth. I am not sure how I found your blog, but have been following you daily for over two years now.
I do have a question? I am not a follower of tennis, but you have shown clearly there are some damn sexy men in that sport. So who is the guy in the "I Just Want To Love You" shirt. He is fricking hot!
