Here's wishing everyone a very happy Fourth of July! As is tradition, I post my favorite Independence Day song, X's "Fourth of July," the Dave Alvin-penned tale of heartache and redemption. In the past, the only version I could find on YouTube was a live solo performance by frontman John Doe. This year I'm happy to see someone has added the original, whose impact is far more haunting thanks to Exene Cervenka's haunting harmonies.
