For those who didn't pick up on my sarcasm about a recent Lady Gaga-Madonna comparison, I offer this amusing video head-to-head. Although I don't really have any strong feelings one way or the other about much music from the last 15 years -- much less about Lady Gaga, whose singles I think are enjoyable enough -- it's nice to see some high-profile types -- OMG Blog and Andy Cohen, to name two -- are echoing what my sentiments have been all along : is this really anything new, or just a stand-in for the woman we wish could stay young forever?

Madonna isn't as original as some would like to think. Most of her looks were based on old movie stars.
And when she does go for original we got gold teeth and a cowboy hat.
I think Lady Gaga, like those that came before her, is just doing it bigger, and sometimes better.
I enjoy Lady Gaga for the simple reason that she seems to be having fun doing what she does.
Poor Madge... always taking herself way too seriously.
