Homo Box Office

OK, so my whole joining Netflix idea hasn't really panned out as I planned. I'm sorry, but WHO has time to watch a DVD when you have nightly episodes of "The Daily Show," "The Colbert Report," "Chelsea Lately," weekly episodes of "The Soup," "Snapped," "Intervention," "48 Hours Mystery," "Real Housewives of ...," "Power, Privilege and Justice," plus are trying to keep up with premium cable favorites ("Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Hung," "Real Time With Bill Maher") and pick up a new show or two ("Glee," anyone?). So, for the last five months, there on my TV armoire sat the red Netflix envelope containing John Cameron Mitchell's "Shortbus," a film Michael had selected because he was "tired" of the ones I'd been choosing (but had actually been watching on a weekly basis, in an attempt to justify the $8.95/month fee I was paying).

So we FINALLY watched it on Saturday. WTF? I'd have GLADLY paid $44.75 to NOT have had to sit through that. Why didn't somebody warn me? And, more importantly, WHEN am I going to learn my lesson? (I haven't even gotten around to watching LAST season of my favorite show, "Friday Night Lights" and a new one is about to begin!)

This movie received standing applause when shown at Cannes... well at least the three-way scene did. I loved it, but then I'm a bit pervy.

I enjoyed "Shortbus" myself, though parts of it were awfully strange. Maybe it was just the hot gay guys. Naked. Having sex. I suppose I thought it was porn with actual acting. :)

Add me to the chorus of those loving "Shortbus." Thought it was great.
