  • Arrest in Oceanside: A fellow sailor has been charged with fatally shooting and burning August Provost, a gay serviceman last month at Camp Pendleton, but Navy officials said Thursday it was part of a crime spree not related to the victim's sexual orientation. (SD UnionTrib)

  • Kiss of Life: In response to three recent events in different U.S. cities, where gay or lesbian couples have been harassed, detained or arrested for the simple act of kissing in a public place, two gay rights bloggers have joined forces with the national grassroots LGBT organization Join the Impact to create the Great Nationwide Kiss-In, slated for Saturday, Aug. 15 at 2 p.m. ET.
