  • It's a Grand Old Party: Richard Curtis, the latest anti-gay Republican to be sucked into a gay sex scandal, will resign his post in the Washington state house of representatives, according to a statement released by the legislator's office. The announcement came Wednesday after he admitted to police that he had engaged in sex with Cody Castagna, contradicting his initial statement that they did not have sex. "Today I submitted my letter of resignation to Gov. Gregoire effective immediately," Curtis said in the statement. Castagna allegedly tried to blackmail Curtis for $1,000(!!!), threatening to reveal to the lawmaker's wife that the two had had sex if he did not pay. According to Castagna's statement to police, Curtis said his wife knew he was attracted to men and didn't approve, so Curtis only met with men when traveling out of town. (Advocate)

  • Not-Very-Civil Liberties: A grieving father won a $2.9 million verdict Wednesday against Fred Phelps' fundamentalist Kansas church, which pickets military funerals out of a belief that the war in Iraq is a punishment for the nation's tolerance of homosexuality. (I know -- I can't follow this either.) Albert Snyder of York, Pa., sued the Westboro Baptist Church for unspecified damages after members demonstrated at the March 2006 funeral of his son, Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder, who was killed in Iraq. The church and three of its leaders -- Phelps and his two daughters, Shirley Phelps-Roper and Rebecca Phelps-Davis -- were found liable for invasion of privacy and intent to inflict emotional distress. Church members routinely picket funerals of military personnel killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, carrying signs such as ''Thank God for dead soldiers'' and ''God hates fags.'' (AP)

  • Khmer Rude: Cambodian Prime Minster Hun Sen said he planned to legally disown his adopted daughter, who is a lesbian, so she cannot claim any inheritance. Hun Sen made the revelation about his closely guarded family life in a speech at a graduation. "My adopted daughter now has a wife," he said. "I’m quite disappointed." At the same time, he appealed to people not to discriminate against homosexuals, adding, "Most of them are good people and are not doing alcohol, drugs or racing vehicles." (HUH?) (AP)

  • Major Sheikh Up: Swiss officials announced Wednesday they will try the brother of the ruler of the United Arab Emirates for allegedly assaulting an American man who rebuffed his sexual advances in a Geneva hotel. (365Gay)

  • Report Card: It's the day after Halloween and Pretty on the Outside's figured out who had the best costume package. (POTO)

  • On Second Thought: Matt might have something to say about the voting.

  • Evita Hilton: The first five-star gay hotel in Latin America opened Wednesday in Buenos Aires, an increasingly popular destination on the worldwide gay tourist circuit. Rio de la plata. Florida, Corrientes, Nueve de Julio All I want to know. (AP)

  • Incomplete Pass? Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo just signed a six-year, $67 million contract extension, but I still can't decide if he's cute or not. (AP)

  • No Prison Break: The actor Lane Garrison was sentenced to three years and four months in prison Wednesday for a drunken driving crash that killed a 17-year-old Beverly Hills High student last December. How much time is he going to get for wearing that hat? (AP)

  • The Purrrfect Present: Some people will pay top dollar for good pussy. (Queerty)
