Carlos Alcaraz and Jasmine Paolini win big in Rome. Full report plus all the ATP beef that's fit to post BELOW.
Carlos Alcaraz defeated Jannik Sinner, 7-6 (5), 6-1, to win his first Italian Open on Sunday and add another big clay-court title to his résumé.
It was the Spaniard's fourth win in a row over the World No. 1, who was competing in his first event since returning from a three-month doping suspension.
Meanwhile, Jasmine Paolini beat Coco Gauff 6-4, 6-2 in the women’s singles final on Saturday to become the first Italian player to win the tournament in 40 years -- and first little person to ever do so. She then came back on Sunday and became the first woman since Monica Seles in 1990 to win both the singles and doubles titles in Rome -- and the first player to do so in any WTA 1000 series tournament since Vera Zvonareva at Indian Wells in 2009.
Every time I think I'm being too hard on Coco she plays a match like this -- replete with a head-scratching 12+ games in unforced errors. I guess the fact that she's No. 2 in the world really speaks to incredible ability to compete despite the fact that her game is stacked against her.
In men's doubles, Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic saved a match point to win their third Masters 1000 title of the season with a 6-4, 6-7, 13-11 win over Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul.
But even though they narrowly lost in the final, people can't stop talking about Reboul and Doumbia's semifinal victory celebration in Rome!

I could die happy if I got to see Marcos Giron in his underwear. But until then, his pecs will do.

What scares me about Sabalenka's lead is that she could lose all four majors this year and still wind up No. 1
