Song of the Day: 'Right Time of the Night' by Jennifer Warnes


Although this is one of three songs that made me extremely uncomfortable as a child when it came on with my parents present -- Bad Company's "Feel Like Makin' Love" and Charlie Rich's "Behind Closed Doors" being the other two -- it popped into my head the other day and has remained there ever since. (I looooove this song!) Jennifer Warnes may be better known for her two Grammy-award-winning No. 1 duets -- "Up Where We Belong" with Joe Cocker in 1983 and "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" with Bill Medley in 1987. 


But many people don't know that she's far from a movie-soundtrack queen, having had a longtime association with the great Leonard Cohen, dating back to 1971, with whom she has toured and recorded music (including the tribute album "Famous Blue Raincoat"), as well as John Cale of the Velvet Underground. I'll post songs from those eras later, but now to the ear worm of the moment:
