Song of the Day: 'One of the Living' by Tina Turner

Watched the Tina Turner episode of AXS TV's "Rock Legends" over the weekend and somehow managed to fall in love with my private dancer all over again. Took me straight back to 1983 when my brother Bill brought home from college a copy of the on-the-comeback-trail diva's cover of Al Green's "Let's Stay Together" -- and it was as if the British Electric Foundation had struck gold. So many great moments -- seeing her perform her first hit ("A Fool in Love" with Ike), her Acid Queen getup in "Tommy," Damian and I both confessing our undying love for "I Don't Wanna Fight." But perhaps the one that stood out most was that they opted to play the lesser-remembered single from "Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome," which hit No. 15 on the Hot 100 back in 1985. Although "We Don't Need Another Hero" is an anthem for the ages, I remember preferring "One of the Living" at the time -- so it was nice to see (and hear) it get its due!
