Twitter Sides With Remorseless Anti-Gay Former Rep. Aaron Schock

Twitter has denied my appeal over a tweet I sent a week ago that said "Disgraced Rep. Aaron Schock's nudes have finally leaked" and took you to a page on my blog that outlined his anti-gay behavior. From there, you could click through to another page that contained screenshots of the leaked naked video, but did not even include the clip itself.

Twitter provided no specific details in its ruling. But even if it believes it is an invasion of privacy for people to be posting these photos -- that Schock was readily sharing with strangers on the gay hookup app Grindr -- the fact that they were “leaked” by said strangers to a message board (which is where a reader who sent them to me found them) is certainly newsworthy given the hypocritical hunk’s record. Michael Signorile wrote a thoughtful piece about the whole thing for the Daily Beast that is now available without a paywall HERE. I also discussed the situation on "The Adam Sank Show" over the weekend -- listen HERE.

It’s Pride month. And I don’t really know what else to say about the topic other than that I think it's disgraceful for Twitter to protect someone who has actively sought to harm queer people -- for which he has never once shown any hint of remorse -- while at the same time reaping the benefits of LGBTQ progress, living it up in gay-friendly environments and hooking up with gay men. Is this what Twitter stands for, Jack Dorsey? And to the exposed hypocrite, could you finally just tell us: What do you think you're doing?

P.S. As a practical matter, here’s what’s next. Twitter is forcing me to delete the “harassing” tweet and spend another week in Twitter jail -- even felons get credit for time served -- and then my account will be fully restored. 🙄

This is hypocrisy. I suggest all your readers share this on whatever social media they use... and repost on @twitter
So... when is Twitter going to start posting rainbow flags and Happy Pride bullshit?

That decision is shameful. So we all need to write to our representatives in Congress (both in Senate the one in the House) to urge them to begin regulation of the profit-over-all social media companies.

I think the better question is: why do people, and people in the press, still use Twitter? We've long known their hypocrisy in policies handling the president, and white supremists, so why use Twitter? Just STAWP!!! Why support such a platform? Isn't that a double standard also?
