Song of the Day: 'Better Be Home Soon' by Crowded House

When I heard Lindsey Buckingham was out of Fleetwood Mac (again), my first reaction was to be annoyed. Christine McVie was finally back in the fold and now another "classic" member isn't going to be there? (Neil Finn of Split Enz and Crowded House fame is filling in for hiin on the band’s upcoming tour.) But then I thought about it a little more and realized this will likely mean more songs by John McVie's ex and Stevie Nicks -- they didn't even have time for "Sara" last time! -- and no 20-minute versions of "Big Love" and "Tusk." Something this strong could get me carried away.

Tim Finn is great, though his brother Neil is even better. "Hit the Ground Running" was one of the best songs written about the AIDS crisis.

Every bit of their sound since Buckingham Nicks joined FM is Lindsey Buckingham. Those Christine/Stevie songs you love wouldn’t exist in their released forms without him. Every rhythmic scheme, every back up vocal, every moving guitar part is him. I love Stevie, I love Christine more, but listen to their demos sometime, snooze fest. Yeah, his not being on the tour is a BFD and an absolute reason to forgo.

@John: True. But they're already baked goods. We don't need him at the concert to taste them!

Very disappointed that Neil Finn joined those ghastly 70's dinosaurs Fleetwood Mac. He was supposed to do a concert with the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 2019 but it got canceled due to his tour commitments with them. Love Split Enz and Crowded House --"Woodface" is one of my favorite albums-- hope he reschedules with the LAP.
