The Mercury bio sounds like that old MGM musical "Words and Music" about Lorenz Hart which excluded any mention of his homosexuality but that was made in 1940's

I had no intention of seeing this movie anyhow--I always really detested Queen and its cheap, crappy music--so I can't claim that this decision will make me boycott the film.
I wonder if the filmmakers will go whole hog, and give Mercury a loyal movie wife and a couple of cute movie children.

And don't forget "Night and Day," Warner Brothers' highly selective 1946 Cole Porter biopic, which not only managed to overlook Porter's bisexuality, but threw in a "straight" Monty Woolley for good measure.
In the 40s, there were no atheists in the foxholes, and no gays in the Hollywood musicals.
