Remains of the Day (10/11)

NYT: Mordechi "Modi" Rosenfeld is gay, an observant Jew, and his comedy career is blooming. (He's also married to a 22-years-his-junior stacked gentile)

On the ground: Attending a screening of the first episode of "Boots" last night in Chelsea as part of Newfest. The show is impressive -- great cast (Miles Heizer is adorable!), great writing, great story (based on my friend Greg White Cope's "Pink Marine" memoir) -- and the Q&A that followed was one of the best I've ever seen. (I'm also dying to meet creator/showrunner Andy Parker now that I know we were both gay boys who grew up in the Valley of the Sun back in the day!) Eager to see the rest of the season, even if I'm a little uneasy with the premise that while a gay person's having to deny/hide who he fundamentally is isn't ideal, "everyone is hiding something" and giving up something about themselves for the greater good by being in the military, because that is in no way the same thing as what was done to LGBTQ servicemembers throughout history.
