'The Handmaid's Tale' to Get Second Season

From HERE.

Can't say enough about "The Handmaid's Tale," which Damian and I finished watching last night. (I said it before and I'll say it again: It is a documentary about the Republican Party!) Not an awards-show queen, but fully expect it to rightfully sweep the Emmys. That said, now that I know it ends where the book did, I'm even more trepidatious about Hulu's planned second season. Can anyone think of a show or movie based on a book that wound up continuing the story on -- and more importantly, one that didn't suck?

With Atwood still involved, there seems to be plenty to look forward to. This is a fun/interesting story from HuffPost:

'American Gods' (like it or not... I'm loving it) is a great example of of expanding, with the author's blessing and involvement, the book.
My concern is: How many seasons do they plan on taking it?
'American Gods' has already said it'll be 5 or 6 seasons to reach the books finale. That worries me. Poor, brilliant (in my opinion), 'Sense8' just got their 5 year plan pulled after a very exciting second season.

Last season "Game of Thrones" passed the books. And I think "The Leftovers" also passed the book. And then there is "House of Cards" which, if it didn't pass a book, certainly has gone way past the British series. Good writers, smart producers, great actors, and a fine supporting crew make for great television and movies.
