Jesus, it's starting to look like I'm going to have to start thoroughly documenting the demise of Seventh Avenue in Chelsea too. Jeremiah's Vanishing New York reports that the famed Peter McManus Cafe, an institution in Chelsea since 1932, is likely closing soon as the valuable "air rights" above the building have been sold. This would explain why the deli next door just abruptly closed up shot after less than five years. Two blocks south we lost a bodega and soon Merchants restaurant will be shuttering to make room for yet another luxury high-rise -- do we really need one on this corner, too? Read HERE.
