Lots of strong reactions to the news that Bob Dylan was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature. I don't have an opinion about it one way or the other -- I admire Dylan a lot but tend to enjoy him more in theory than in everyday use -- but my friend Jerome Murphy had a take on the unusual pick that I found provocative:

Remember that Dylan was mostly about what he had to say and that the lyrics stand on their own as verse. "The Times They Are A-Changing" would have been powerful as an editorial published on the front page of every paper with no music.
