Song of the Day: 'Girl From Ipanema Goes to Greenland' by Cindy Wilson

Every generation thinks it just missed the "cool" period in time -- and despite many great 1980s memories, I'm no exception. I narrowly missed seeing Blondie in its first incarnation. I was too young to get into bars to see the Waitresses, Bow Wow Wow, Killer Pussy and Divinyls. And then I saw the Pretenders shortly after James Honeyman Scott and Pete Farndon had died. Still, I was fortunate enough to see the Smiths on the "Queen Is Dead" tour -- and I also saw the B-52's in 1983 before the untimely death of Ricky Wilson. Though I love the whole band, I've always favored the songs sung by the B-girls. God knows Kate's adventures in solo work have been a hoot, but to me Ricky's sister was always the one with the voice, which is why I couldn't be more excited that a solo album and tour is about to happen. Until then, take in adventure from down South American way ...
