Kaine She Choose Again?

Sigh. Obviously not the worst pick, but hard to see what he brings to the ticket -- were we going to lose Virginia? -- and easy to see what he takes away from it. Let's just hope Gov. Terry McAuliffe isn't in the slammer when it comes time to appoint Tim Kaine's successor.

UPDATE: I'm moving into the "acceptance" phase.

who would you prefer if not Kaine? Sanders, Warren and Sherrod Brown would all be replaced by republican govs and are all more valuable in the senate than stuck as VP. Corey Booker also a republican gov, not enough experience and too close to wall st. The Castro brothers not enough experience. Same with Perez. So, who is left?

Safe and smart choice. She needs to lure the centrists unhappy with Trump more than she needs to keep the far left crazies, many of whom will never vote for her.

Also Kaine has never lost a race in Virginia. Not one. Virginians like him. And in the last four presidential elections as went Virginia, went Ohio and Florida. That is 270!

You're both right. There isn't an obvious better pick that doesn't fuck up the political Jenga game, too. So maybe Martin O'Malley in a Speedo?

I had thought that Admiral Straridis was an interesting possibility (former NATO chief like Collin Powell) considering the angst about terrorism.

With Kaine, though, his Spanish is extremely strong, much more fluent than any SSL politician that I am aware of, none of Michael Bloomberg's and Jeb Bush's many "ums" and pauses. A year among the poor of Honduras gives his Spanish the air authenticity that sends special meaning to Spanish speaking voters. Its a HUGE plus. Not going full on immigration (selection of Julian Castro, who I like very much too) that offends independent minded voters while very favorable to immigration conscious voters.

In light of Trump/Pence, the attacks on Obama, racism and anti-immigration rhetoric, I think Kaine is a pretty strong choice.

I wasn't thrilled at first, but I see the logic. He really does help in that he is a steady hand, well-liked, grounds her, and yes, we were very much in danger of losing VA. I like him.

I still loved the idea of a shocker, "OMG, Warren!" but that's not Hillary; she is very even-handed and not flashy. But that's good. We don't need a Democratic Sarah Palin.

It's a safe choice

I wasn't sure about Kaine until his speech today. He's the best part of Biden without the foot in the mouth moments (for now). He was the only "safe" Senator choice and he will draw white men and those security moms which Drumpf seem to attract. Hillary already had the black, LGBTQ and Hispanic votes in the bag so Kaine is a safe but good choice. My heart was with a HRC/Warren ticket but my head thinks that this is the best choice possible.

We are past the point where we can second guess , Bernie Sanders doesn't run Hills campaign , and Trumps male voters are the same people we have dealt with since puberty. Hillary has to have great turnout, all we ca do is vote and take 4 friends with us.

He gave a completely killer speech.
Hillary should let him do the negative stuff he can do with charm unlike her and she should stick to the positive ones she has.
