Song of the Day: 'Call Me' by Aretha Franklin

Not only does she have that voice, she can write, too -- like this gem from 1970's "This Girl's in Love With You." Blondie and the Style Council would later write songs with the same title, both of which are classics.

I remember years ago Casey Kasem saying that "Call Me" was the most common Billboard Top 40 song title with six different songs. I think it was when Skyy's "Call Me" was making it's climb back in the early '80's. I don't know if it still holds the Top 40 record, but I did find that it's in a 5-way tie for sixth place for the Billboard Hot 100 with 10 versions. All by itself at number one is "Hold On" with 16 versions. Yes, I'm a chart geek.

The Petula Clark one is also great.

Not to mention:
(Sweet Sweet Baby) Since You've Been Gone
Rock Steady
Think
Spirit in the Dark -- and more

But Aretha could have been a star just playing Jazz Piano listen to her on that track
