Billy Paul, Singer Famous for 'Me and Mrs. Jones,' Is Dead at 81

Sad to read about the passing of the great Billy Paul, whose song "Me and Mrs. Jones" scandalized and electrified the country all the way to the top of the Billboard charts when I was a little boy back in 1972. Paul was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was hospitalized last week at Temple University Hospital, his manager Beverly Gay told Philadelphia news outlet NBC 10, then died Sunday at his home in Blackwood, N.J. Sandra Bernhard brought new life to Paul's biggest hit when she put a lesbian spin on the R&B classic in her late '80s one woman show, "Without You I'm Nothing," at the Orpheum Theater, which latest made it way to the big screen in 1990.

They just keep coming. At 81 it's not that big a surprise but I could use a few days respite from celebrity deaths.
