Moore Is Less

I wasn't even going to dignify Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore's latest attempt to block gay people from getting married because what he's doing is illegal and will be corrected in short order. But after seeing Rachel Maddow's story about the similarities between Donald Trump and another Alabama loser, Gov. George Wallace, I couldn't resist noting the similarity here too. How sad that someone would literally try to block the doorway to progress, even after it's already happened. I feel for the people of Alabama -- they deserve so much better than this.

You're right. But part of the role of the government is to protect people from themselves, so I'd have thought someone who took an oath to follow the rule of law would at least do that, even if he didn't agree with it. Sadly, I was wrong.

mark, california passed prop 8 by a majority vote, too. the margins are as slim in alabama as they are in every state nationwide, blue, red, or purple.

roy moore was re-elected following the implosion of his opponent's campaign just 2 months before election day, and only following many other failed bids to be re-elected. for all intents and purposes, his name was the only one on the ballot.

Isn't this really a cover for his son's drug indictments?

kenneth, you realize rachel was comparing the 2016 presidential candidacy of donald trump from new york, to the 1968 presidential candidacy of george wallace from alabama, don't you?

Yeah, I watched it. Curious why you ask, though.

To those who say "the people elected him" -- yes, in the last election, he hit it lucky, but "the white people of Alabama" have the voting ability deck stacked for them.
