Great interview with Tracey Thorn in The Evening Standard.
Best thing a London cabbie has said to you?
The best thing was not said to me, but about me, when a cabbie said to Ben [Watt, her husband], ‘Guess who I picked up from round here just the other day? That thin bird who sang the Rod Stewart number.’
Although I was the president of the Everything But the Girl fan club, I must confess to suffering a bit of Paul Weller Syndrome when it comes to her solo work, which I've bought religiously but have hitherto not enjoyed nearly as much. I've been meaning to read her memoir -- and now there's another one -- but it was hard to find as a U.K. only release. Just read she just did the soundtrack for "The Falling" -- that's her at the film's premiere -- so I'm looking forward to downloading it when I get home. Her holiday album from a couple years ago was pure joy, so I'm hoping this one is equally magical. Might be time to give "Out of the Woods" and "Love and Its Opposite" another try too, she and hubby Ben Watt are true gifts.
