Very sad to read about the passing of Marcia Strassman, who rose to fame as Gabe Kaplan's wife on the 1970s sitcom smash "Welcome Back, Kotter." Television-watching was definitely a family activity in my house growing up, and I have such fond memories of watching shows like "Happy Days," "Sanford and Son" and "Kotter" back when. (I got my more adults shows like "All in the Family" and "Mary Tyler Moore" while my parents were at their bowling league on Saturday night!) Julie Kotter was always the voice of reason -- and for a brief time during a contract dispute the lead star of that memorable sitcom. The obit says she had been battling breast cancer for many years. May she rest in peace.
