Fun Couple: Carly Simon and Debbie Harry

Absolutely DYING at Carly's Throwback Thursday photo, simply labeled "back in the day." Longtime readers know that Carly is my other girl -- and I had no idea these two had ever even crossed paths. Thinking this could have been related to the film "Soup for One" (1981), which featured Debbie's "Jump Jump" and Carly's "Why" on the soundtrack, but that's just a guess. Anyone know more? A Google Image search claims this photo has never appeared anywhere online before -- way to go, shy Carly!

UPDATE:

It's July 29, 2020, as I write this and I just discovered this photo of Deb (in the same outfit) with the late French punk star Edwige Belmore. It's labeled as being at Studio 54 in 1979, which would make me think that was the funnest night in the club's history. But something tells me the year is wrong. Debbie was so iconically Blondie at that point, I just can't see her going out with almost brown hair. My guess is still 1981.

A great one!

Same outfit, no information.

UPDATE 2: You can't trust Getty Images, but they also say 1979 in their caption:

Looks like Glenn O'Brien's "TV Party" is what brings the cool people together -- again! The show ran on public access until 1982, so I'm still not convinced about the year.
