The New York Times has a gripping, play-by-play account of the birth of President and Jackie Kennedy's son Patrick, the first baby born to a sitting president and first lady since the 19th century. It's a largely forgotten story -- the president was assassinated just three months later -- but one that is more shocking than ever when you realize the little boy was just five and a half weeks premature. Doctors, including some who were directly involved, confirm that advances in pediatric medicine mean Patrick would have had a 95 percent change of survival if he had been born today.
