Boy Scouts of America will still discriminate against gay troop leaders ... which I find more offensive than discriminating against all LGBT people.
From GLAAD:
"Today's vote is a significant victory for gay youth across the nation and a clear indication that the Boy Scouts' ban on gay adult leaders will also inevitably end," said GLAAD spokesperson, Rich Ferraro. "The Boy Scouts of America heard from religious leaders, corporate sponsors and so many Scouting families who want an end to discrimination against gay people, and GLAAD will continue this work with those committed to equality in Scouting until gay parents and adults are able to participate."
By now you’ve probably heard that the national council of the Boy Scouts of America voted to allow openly gay boys to serve as scouts, but to prohibit their continued involvement once they turn 18. | No one should be misled by today’s cowardly, offensive and obviously calculated decision. The Boy Scouts of America is brazenly continuing to discriminate. They cannot escape the moral condemnation of fair-minded people simply because they’ve set an age limit on when their discrimination begins. In this day and age, it is neither acceptable nor progress for the BSA to allow gay boys to participate as scouts for a few years, only to harshly expel them from any involvement the moment they turn 18. The damning and toxic message to youth is the same either way. We hope you’ll join us in urging people and companies that abhor discrimination to reject this half-hearted measure and continue to withhold support from the BSA until the group fully ends its discriminatory policies.

Um ,what sources?
MY sources.
I completely agree with the LAGLC's statement. I was in scouts (I know shock!) & my sexuality (or anyone else's for that matter) was NEVER an issue (at least to my observance- and BTW, there were alot of "friends of dorothy" in the community both as scouts and as leaders when I was one). It shouldn't be now!
My take -- this is happening because the mormons and catholics cannot take more bad publicity, and because they cannot take the families leaving over Brother A being tossed out, Brothers B and C remaining in scouting.
YES, it is not enough, but after the dust settles, and the Baptists have created the Christ Scouts, the silly ban on Gay leaders will go.
If you read comments on HP, etc, there are WAY too many people who think Gays have power over straight boys and will corrupt them. When this does not happen, more progress!
