Song of the Day: 'Time (Clock of the Heart)' by Culture Club

It's a shame Culture Club's beautiful blue-eyed-soul brand of music has become a footnote in the messy life of singer Boy George. The band's five studio albums are timeless, but it's the stopgap single "Time (Clock of the Heart)" -- released between "Kissing to Be Clever" and "Colour by Numbers" in the UK -- that ranks as my favorite, with a tongue-in-cheek video that's as sentimental as the song's heartfelt lyrics. Note to the Department of Homeland Security: Please let Boy George return to America to tour!

i just went through an entire month of reliving all things culture club related...growing up in an area far from actual 'culture', i recall the impact that the Boy had on my existence as a young gay in a tiny village...this is def one of my faves as well! (though i wallowed in the heartache of 'victims' and 'mistake number 3' for weeks)...luv the vid!

By far my favorite song by one of my all time favorite groups! Probably in my top 5 songs of all time if I had a top 5.

I wouldn't dismiss culture clubs music as a footnote to boy George's messy personal life. boy was a brilliant soul singer and this is absolute proof. What a gret track - superior on all levels. I also think his vocal from 'Mistake Number 3' was among the decades best. Marvelous taste.

I concur! This one was always my fave as well -- along with I'll Tumble 4 Ya. Looking back, I knew things were changing in my life when CC first entered it back in 1982. The clerk at Harmony House was mortified when my mother stopped in to pick up Kissing to Be Clever on cassette for one of my Christmas presents.

And, as anyone who's read my novel BAND FAGS! knows, my best friend "Max" said it best: "That girl from Culture Club is hot." Boy sure was beautiful back then.
