Simply Barbra

"Hello Gorgeous! A Salute to the Streisand Songbook!" comes to the Kaye Playhouse on October 12th at 8 p.m. The divalicious night benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, like you need another reason to go. Tickets HERE.

From a release:
As New York City celebrates the return of everyone's favorite Funny Girl as she delivers two sold-out concerts in Brooklyn, the worlds of Broadway, TV, cabaret and the recording industry will come together to salute the Streisand Songbook at this one-night-only concert to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS on Friday, October 12th, (the night in between her shows) at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College.
Acclaimed singer/actress LORNA LUFT and multi-award winning singer/songwriter ANN HAMPTON CALLAWAY lead the impressive list of performers which includes Drama Desk Award nominee ASHLEY BROWN (Mary Poppins), TITUSS BURGESS (30 Rock, The Little Mermaid), NICK ADAMS (Priscilla: Queen of the Desert), VON SMITH (Opening Act on E!), SAYCON SENGBLOH (Wicked, The Color Purple), MARTY THOMAS (Xanadu, Wicked), ERIN QUILL (Avenue Q), NATALIE TORO (A Tale of Two Cities), KRISTY CATES (Wicked), NATALIE JOY JOHNSON (Legally Blonde), JIM CARUSO ("Cast Party" at Birdland), STEVEN BRINBERG (Simply Barbra) and recording artist KELLY KING. And speaking of Babs, are we ready for her (latest) return to the silver screen?

Wow, it's been sixteen years since her last leading role in a movie (she was actually fun and a scene-stealer in 2004's MEET THE FOCKERS but 2010's LITTLE FOCKERS was miserable and she had nothing to do but sign her weekly paychecks). She and Rogen seem to have a good comedic chemistry together; the role is age-appropriate; and the preview looks funny. Fingers-crossed.
