Song of the Day: 'Labrador' vs. 'Voices Carry' by Aimee Mann/'Til Tuesday

Given Aimee Mann's apparent distaste for nostalgia -- the last time I saw her perform she rolled her eyes when a fan screamed out "Coming Up Close" -- it's kinda surprising slash incredible that the video for her new single, "Labrador," is a shot-for-shot remake of the clip for her most famous old song, "Voices Carry." (Aimee's new album, "Charmer," is available HERE.) The song and the guy were better then, but the new breed does have its charms. You can watch them both below, but perhaps the funnest way to experience the whole thing is with YouTube Doubler's "Mashup Helper," which plays them both at once, side-by-side HERE

OMG, I love it! I'd consider myself more of an Aimee Mann fan than a 'Til Tuesday (there was more than one song?)-- but I'm also a big fan of Mann's hubby (I hope they're still married!) and Madonna's former brother-in-law, Michael Penn.

Have loved Aimee for a long long while and I really enjoy this new album (do we still call them that?).

One of our (me and husband) favorite concert memories is when we saw Aimee at the House of Blues in Anaheim and someone shouted out "Play Voices Carry!!" and her response was "I don't effing have to!!" (censored for your blog).

We still yell that out to each other every once in a while when we are at either ends of a large room!!
