Song of the Day: 'River Deep, Mountain High' by Ike and Tina Turner

A live performance of "River Deep, Mountain High," the (classic) song whose (chart) failure took a huge toll on Phil Spector. Note how Tina doesn't quite have the title down when introducing it to the audience!

My favorite song of all time. (Oddly enough, I heard Erasure's remake of it before I ever heard the original!) And the Phil Spector-produced Ike & Tina Turner album of the same name is one of Spector's greatest achievements. There's not a miss among any of the CD's 12 tracks (that includes SAVE THE LAST DANCE FOR ME, MAKE EM WAIT, A FOOL IN LOVE, I THINK ITS GONNA WORK OUT FINE, I IDOLIZE YOU and I'LL NEVER NEED MORE THAN THIS). It's truly a desert island pick!

Strangely, she doesn't quite have the tune down in the posted version.
