After finishing "Lizz Free or Die" Sunday night, I started re-reading "The Great Gatsby." I thought the second attempt at a big-screen adaptation was coming out this summer and wanted a refresher, but it turns out it's not till Christmas. It's been some 30 years since I read F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel, but with a leading man I despise and a director I find ridiculous, this isn't shaping up to be an improvement over the 1974 attempt.
Nightstand: As always, Gatsby's on top.

another formula Leo film. his career is a hollywood classic. appears in titanic which would have been huge whomever was cast in role, then couples with a big director forever and becomes a 'big' star. he is so over rated.
Why does Di-Crap-rio always look puffy and sweaty? He's worse than Vince Vaughn!
Gatsby is a great book that they never get right. This will be actually the 4th big screen version. Plus, there was a lame A & E version Mira Sorvino as Daisy! AND there was a black version called "G"!
So I guess the only thing left was for the Wizard of Baz to do is to make a 3-D version.
Leo looks lame, and tho I love Carey Mulligan, she is not the patrician dream girl that Gatsby pines away for a decade.
Brando as Gatsby and Grace Kelly as Daisy in 1955 would have been about perfect ; )
Yay! "The Year of Magical Thinking" is excellent, and I'm not alone in my disregard for Mr. DiCaprio.
