Mean Gurls

While this HuffPost piece about online gay bullying by Carl Sandler sounds a bit like an advertorial -- he's the founder of NYC-based gay dating app MISTER that makes members sign a commitment to an online experience rooted in "Maturity, Integrity, Safety, Trust, Enjoyment, and Respect" -- it does have some interesting insight into why the app-based gay dating/hookup scene has created an even riper environment for gay-on-gay hate than even the AOL chatrooms and dating services that preceded them. That being said, I agree with commenter Marty when he says these apps aren't intended to be for everyone in the first place, that the very nature of hookups is shallow and based on physical lust only. (It's like a housewife being all pissed off when she's not considered the belle of the ball at the Oscars, no?) If you're basing your self-worth on how you "do" on a sex hookup app, then you probably deserve to be rejected. Read HERE.
