Go Behind 'The Boys in the Band'

"Making the Boys," Crayton Robey's insightful and intelligent documentary about Mart Crowley's landmark play and film, is fully loaded on Vimeo on right. Not sure if it'll last, so if you don't have Netflix, watch away. My review of the film HERE.

didn't see the movie 'Boys' until 1975, it was in a small second run theater near a universty campus where my boyfriend and I knew we would only run into college aged friends. The boyfriend had just come out and he feared that would be his life. We're both in separate relationships lasting 25+ years

My partner (of 28 years) and I just watched this last night (we got it from Netflix). Really excellent, full of lots of juicy details and colorful personalities.

Personally, I went through the classic "stages" with "The Boys In the Band". I first read about it when I was in high school sometime in the late '70s, then I read the play. I liked it. Then I saw the movie in the early days of VCR and I HATED it. "Too many stereotypes, too negative". Then I saw it again about ten years ago and I liked it a lot. And then I watched it last year again and I could really appreciate the writing and the acting. "Groundbreaking" is an overused term, but it really applies here.
