Happy 40th to the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center!

My friend Jim Key of the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center with the honorees

Wanna send out a huge congratulations to the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center, which recently celebrated 40 years of activism, with a gala honoring Chaz Bono and Neil Patrick Harris & David Burtka.

As some of you may have noticed, I've been a little fixated on the organization's former executive director, Steve Shulte -- who served from 1979 till 1984, before being elected to West Hollywood's first City Council.

A fellow mustache-loving friend of mine happened to find this old photo of Shulte -- who posed for Colt as Nick Chase -- in his 'stache stash, and it happened to be taken while Shulte was executive director at the Center, so it seemed like the perfect excuse to post it. (And it's Movember -- shoot me!) I'm well aware of the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center's history of service and great events -- I saw Kathy Griffin perform there WAAAAY before she hit the big time -- and I just want to send my heartfelt wishes to everyone there, especially my pal Jim, their longtime chief public affairs office.

My understanding is that Steve (Nick) is (unfortunately) straight.
